Why China Relaxed Blogger Crackdown - WSJ.com

It looks like the central Chinese government may be starting to realize it is fighting a losing battle against technology.  Its desire for security and accountability online run counter to the creativity and profits of its internet industry and internet citizenry.  It seems the government has decided it values business success more than strict control over who says what.  While this may seem like a small decision, it shows China has abadoned at least this one iteration of online censorship.  More attempts will follow, but as China’s citizens become more used to, integrated with, and indeed dependent on the internet, the more the government will face resistance as they attempt to regulate it.
